Fishing Boats

Home > Fishing Boats

Custom built fishing boat models, from inshore creel and potting boats to seiners, longliners and beam trawlers. Made to order from your photographs or drawings, with the correct registration details and deck layout for one specific boat.

Fishing boats are personal. Almost every commission here is for one named boat, ordered by the owner, the skipper, the family who ran her, or a company marking a vessel being sold or replaced.

The details that actually matter

Accuracy here is not about the type, it is about the boat. The exact port letters and registration number, the wheelhouse shape and window arrangement, the position of the hauler, reels, pots and gallows, the mast and derrick layout, and the colour the hull was actually painted rather than the standard for her class.

What we can work from

  • Photographs from the quay covering bow, stern, beam and deck
  • Builder’s drawings or lines plans where the yard records survive
  • Registration and fleet records giving dimensions and build year
  • Your own description of modifications made during her working life

A good photograph set is usually enough on its own. Where images are limited we will tell you which areas will be interpreted before work starts.

Finishing options

Full hull on a cradle or waterline for a base or case. Engraved plates recording the boat’s name, port, build year and skipper are a common addition, as are flags or a fleet number. Finishes range from fresh out of the yard to a hull subtly worked to show her age.

Other options

Stock fishing boat models are in ready made fishing boats, and kits in fishing boat kits. To commission a named boat, send us your photographs.

Common questions

I only have old family photographs. Is that enough?

Usually. Send what you have and we will tell you what can be established before quoting.

Can you build a boat that sank or was decommissioned?

Yes. Commemorative commissions of lost and decommissioned boats are a regular part of this work.
