Merchant ships are bought as display models for practical reasons as much as decorative ones. They suit shipping offices, brokers, charterers, marine insurers, port authorities and training providers, and they give an immediate visual reference for how a vessel type is laid out.

What distinguishes each type

• Container ships: hatch covers, lashing bridges and stacked containers painted in line colours
• Tankers: midship manifolds, pipework, catwalks and valve detail
• Bulk carriers: hatch covers, deck cranes and grabs
• Offshore and FPSO units: process decks, turrets and flare arrangements

Build detail

Hull forms and accommodation blocks are built to the correct proportions for the type, and hulls are finished with boot topping, draught marks and load lines. Container stacks can be arranged loaded, part loaded or empty depending on the model.

Full hull or waterline

Both appear in the range. Waterline models sit flat on a base and suit desks and reception counters, and keep a long vessel to a manageable size. Full hull models on a cradle show the underwater form and suit display cabinets.

Corporate use
