About the Wally Power 118

The Wally Power 118 is an award-winning yacht, gaining international recognition in 2004 for its aerodynamic structure. Designed by Luca Bassani, a former champion yachtsman, the Wally Power 118 was also the only boat to be displayed at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, during the Architecture and Design Exhibition in 2004. It comes as no surprise that this luxury state-of-the-art yacht is valued to be between US$16 to US$24 million. The Wally Power 118 is a perfect combination of advanced technology and aesthetic design. The yacht has three gas turbines, allowing the Wally Power 118 to reach cruising speeds of 60 knots with little effort. Its sleek design and v-shaped hull is a result of extensive R&D in both Sweden and Italy. This allows it to cut through waves like butter. On board, the deck, cockpit and navigation, dining and saloon area has been designed to flow in one continuous element. These open spaces help to create a zen-like appeal and also allows guests to enjoy a 360-degree view of the landscape. The boat also includes a king-sized bed, plasma TVs, an en-suite bathroom, and additional guest cabins. The Wally Power 118 continues to be recognised today, featuring in several well-known programs, including Top Gear.

About the Wally Power 118 ship model

The Wally Power 118 ship model has been scratch-built by master craftsmen, using her original plan and photographs. The model is painted in a sleek reflective dark green, to match the original yacht. This model requires hundreds of hours of work before completion and undergoes a stringent quality control process before leaving the workshop. The team of master craftsmen make use of their skills and expertise to build the hulls and bridges exclusively out of hand-picked hardwoods. Also used for building real-life ships, the construction method is known as the plank-on-frame technique, and takes years to master. In order to create a smooth finish, the model ship is sanded and varnished, before the painting begins. The details on this ship have been replicated using polished brass, metal finishes and hand-stitched upholstery. The Wally Power 118 ship model would make an exquisite addition to any space. The model is mounted on a solid black wooden base to match the design of the yacht. This model is not a kit and is ready for display.

Our readymade models are built by specialist artisan partners using a combination of traditional woodworking techniques and modern manufacturing methods, including CNC machining, laser cutting, and 3D printing. This blend of craftsmanship and technology allows for high levels of detail and consistency across our range. Every piece is inspected for quality before dispatch.

Our readymade models are constructed from a combination of materials depending on the model and manufacturer. The hull and main structural components are typically built from wood – commonly lime, walnut, or mahogany – while masts, spars, and finer structural elements use a mix of wood and metal. Rigging is made from thread or cord, and smaller fittings such as cannons, anchors, and deck hardware are usually cast in metal or formed from resin. Some components may also incorporate laser-cut or 3D-printed parts where precision detailing is required. Display bases and name plaques are generally finished in wood with brass or metal hardware.
