These terms do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law.

2. Placing an Order

2.1 By completing a purchase on our website, you are making an offer to buy the goods described. We reserve the right to accept or decline any order at our discretion.

2.2 A contract between you and Premier Ship Models is formed at the point of dispatch, not at the point of order. You will receive an order confirmation email when your order is received, and a separate dispatch confirmation when your goods have been sent.

2.3 Before placing an order for a kit, please feel free to contact us for advice, particularly regarding the level of skill and experience required to build the model. We are happy to help you choose the right product.

2.4 Product images and descriptions on our website are provided for illustrative purposes. While we make every effort to ensure accuracy, colours, finishes, and minor details may vary slightly between production runs or from photography. If you have a specific requirement, please contact us before ordering.

2.5 In the event that a product is listed at an incorrect price due to a typographical or system error, we reserve the right to cancel the order and issue a full refund. We will notify you promptly if this occurs.

2.6 We reserve the right to withdraw or discontinue any product at any time. If a product becomes unavailable after your order has been placed, we will contact you and offer either an alternative or a full refund.

3. Pricing and Payment

3.1 All prices on our website are displayed in the local currency of the storefront you are browsing. Prices are subject to change without notice. Any price change will apply only to new orders placed after the change takes effect.

3.2 Prices shown exclude delivery and packing unless otherwise stated. Delivery costs are calculated and displayed at checkout before you complete your purchase.

3.3 For customers outside the United Kingdom, prices on our UK storefront exclude UK VAT at 20%. Depending on your country, local VAT, import duties, and customs charges may be applied upon delivery. These charges are entirely the responsibility of the customer. Please check the applicable rates with your local customs authority before ordering.

3.4 We accept payment by major credit and debit cards and PayPal. Accepted payment methods are displayed at checkout. We reserve the right to limit available payment options at our discretion.

3.5 Premier Ship Models retains title to all goods until full payment has been received and cleared.

3.6 We shall not be liable for any delay or failure to deliver if that delay or failure is wholly or partly caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to supplier delays, carrier disruption, customs holds, or events of force majeure.

4. Delivery

4.1 We dispatch orders from our UK head office or directly from our production facilities. Delivery lead times depend on stock availability and are confirmed at the point of order.

  • Ready-made models and display cases in stock are typically dispatched within one week of payment being received.
  • Out-of-stock items may take eight weeks or more. A more specific estimate will be provided at the point of order.
  • Kit orders in stock are typically dispatched within one week.
  • Custom models have longer lead times, which are confirmed as part of the order process.

4.2 We use established international couriers including FedEx, UPS, and DHL. The courier used for your order may vary depending on destination and product type. Once your order has been dispatched, you will be provided with a tracking number.

4.3 For international orders, all import duties, local VAT, customs clearance charges, and any other fees levied by the destination country are the sole responsibility of the customer. Premier Ship Models is not the importer of record in the destination country. We are unable to advise on the specific rates applicable in any given country – please check with your local customs authority before ordering.

4.4 A full list of countries we deliver to is available on our Deliveries page.

4.5 We are bound by the terms and conditions of our courier partners. In the event of a delivery issue, we will work with the relevant courier on your behalf, but we cannot accept liability for delays or failures caused by the courier once goods have been dispatched.

5. Damaged Goods

5.1 Please inspect your order as soon as it is delivered. If your goods arrive damaged, you must notify Premier Ship Models as soon as possible and no later than 24 hours of delivery. This timeframe is required for courier insurance purposes.

5.2 If you are unable to inspect the contents at the point of delivery, please sign the delivery note as “unchecked.”

5.3 All damaged goods must be retained in their original packaging. We will require photographs of both the packaging and the damage before we can progress a claim.

5.4 In the event of confirmed damage in transit, Premier Ship Models will offer either a repair or an exchange of goods as the primary resolution. A refund may be offered where repair or exchange is not possible.

5.5 We cannot accept damage claims reported more than 7 calendar days after delivery.

6. Returns and Cancellations — Standard Orders

This section applies to ready-made model ships, display cases, kits, and RC model boats. It does not apply to custom or bespoke orders – please see Section 8 for those.

6.1 Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving your goods, without giving a reason. To exercise this right, please contact us within that 14-day window using the cancellation form at the end of these terms or by contacting us directly.

6.2 Once you have notified us of your intention to cancel, you must return the goods to us within 14 days. The cost of return is your responsibility unless the goods are faulty or incorrect.

6.3 Returned goods must be in the same condition as received, unused, and in their original packaging where possible.

6.4 Upon receipt, we will inspect the returned item. If the item is undamaged, a full refund for the item will be issued. If the item has been damaged in return transit, we reserve the right to deduct the cost of repair from the refund. If the item is damaged beyond repair, we reserve the right to decline a refund and will provide photographic evidence.

6.5 The right to cancel under these terms does not apply to custom or bespoke orders.

7. Faulty or Incorrect Orders — Standard Orders

7.1 If you receive an item that is faulty, damaged on arrival, or different from what you ordered, please contact us as soon as possible and retain the goods in the condition received, including the original packaging.

7.2 For customers in the United Kingdom, we will arrange collection of the incorrect or faulty item at our cost.

7.3 For international customers, we will arrange collection and return at our cost where practical. Where collection costs are disproportionate, Premier Ship Models reserves the right to issue a full refund of the invoice value in lieu of collection.

7.4 Once a faulty or incorrect item has been returned, we will offer a replacement, repair, or refund as appropriate.

8. Custom and Bespoke Orders

This section applies specifically to custom and bespoke model-making commissions. These terms differ from our standard retail terms and apply from the point an order is confirmed and a deposit is paid.

8.1 Payment terms
Payment for custom models is structured as follows:

  • 50% deposit payable upon confirmation of order
  • 30% payable when the model reaches approximately 75% completion
  • Remaining balance payable in full prior to dispatch or collection

8.2 Model Maker’s Brief
All specifications for a custom model are documented in a Model Maker’s Brief (MMB) or Production Order. This document forms the basis of the contract and must be reviewed and signed off by the client before production begins. Any changes requested after production has started may result in additional cost and extended lead time.

8.3 Client responsibilities

It is the client’s responsibility to review all reference materials, drawings, plans, and photographs provided or approved as part of the MMB. Failure to identify errors at this stage may result in additional costs to correct them later, which will be agreed with the client before work continues.

8.4 Progress updates
Clients will receive photographs of the model at key stages of construction. If no response or feedback is received within 5 working days of an update being sent, we will proceed on the basis that the client is satisfied with the progress shown. Please review all progress photographs carefully.

8.5 Additional costs
Where unforeseen additional costs arise during production – for example, the need for specialist drawings or additional research – these will be communicated to the client and agreed in writing before work continues.

8.6 Exclusivity
Prices quoted for custom models are based on the possibility of producing additional models from the same design. If you require exclusivity – meaning the design will not be reproduced for any other client – this must be requested in writing at the time of order and will be priced accordingly.

Where a model is based on drawings or plans provided by the client, the client holds the rights as author of those materials. By proceeding with the order, the client agrees to assign those rights to Premier Ship Models unless otherwise agreed in writing.

8.7 Cancellation of custom orders
Should you wish to cancel a custom order, please contact us immediately. Cancellation charges will be calculated based on the stage of production reached and any costs already incurred. Any remaining balance due under the payment schedule may become payable depending on the stage reached.

As all custom models are made to individual specification, completed or delivered models cannot be returned and no refund can be issued for completed work.

8.8 Faulty or damaged custom orders
If a custom model arrives damaged or faulty, you must inform us as soon as the damage is discovered and no later than 24 hours of delivery, with photographs of both the packaging and the damage. Premier Ship Models will arrange collection and will attempt repair in the first instance.

9. Refunds

9.1 Refunds are processed within 14 days of the return being received and inspected, or within 14 days of a cancellation being confirmed where no goods need to be returned.

9.2 Refunds are issued using the same payment method used for the original purchase. We are unable to issue refunds to a different card or bank account.

9.3 Refunds are issued in the same currency used for the original purchase. Where currency conversion is required, the exchange rate at the time of the refund will be applied. Premier Ship Models is not responsible for any difference in value resulting from exchange rate movements between the time of order and the time of refund.

10. Kits — Third-Party Products

10.1 Wooden model ship kits and RC model boats sold through Premier Ship Models are manufactured by established third-party brands. Premier Ship Models acts as the retailer of these products and is not the manufacturer.

10.2 Assembly difficulty, build instructions, and component quality are determined by the manufacturer. We recommend contacting us before purchasing a kit if you have any questions about suitability or skill level required.

10.3 Where a kit is covered by a manufacturer warranty, details will be provided where available. Premier Ship Models will assist in facilitating any warranty claim where possible, but cannot accept liability for manufacturing defects beyond what is provided under our standard faulty goods process in Section 7.

11. Display Cases

11.1 Display case dimensions are confirmed with the customer prior to production or dispatch. Where a case is made to a specific size requested or approved by the customer, Premier Ship Models accepts no responsibility for cases that do not fit a model due to incorrect measurements provided by the customer.

11.2 Standard returns and cancellation terms in Section 6 apply to display cases unless they have been made to a custom specification, in which case Section 8 applies.

12. Restoration Services

12.1 All restoration work is discussed and agreed with the client before work begins. Progress photographs will be provided for approval at key stages.

12.2 A non-refundable assessment fee of £50 (or equivalent in the local currency of the order) applies to all restoration enquiries. This fee will be confirmed and agreed with you before you send your model to us. Once the assessment is complete, a full restoration quote will be provided. Any additional work beyond the agreed scope will require written authorisation before proceeding.

12.3 Collection and return delivery costs for restoration work are charged separately and will be quoted at the time of assessment.

13. EU and International Customers

13.1 All orders are dispatched from our UK head office. As a result of the United Kingdom leaving the European Union, prices on our UK storefront exclude UK VAT at 20%. VAT and customs duties may apply upon delivery depending on the regulations of your country. Please check applicable rates with your local customs authority before ordering.

13.2 For customers in the United States, Australia, and other international destinations, import duties, taxes, and customs clearance charges are the sole responsibility of the customer. These charges are not included in our prices and are not collected by Premier Ship Models at the point of sale.

13.3 Premier Ship Models cannot advise on the specific duties or taxes applicable in any given country, as these are determined by local customs authorities and are subject to change.

14. Website Use

14.1 Access to the Premier Ship Models website is subject to these terms and conditions.
