الوصف

Introducing the exceptional Ferrari Hydroplane Model Ship by OMH – a tribute to the iconic racing boat that set world speed records in the 1950s. This beautifully crafted model is a stunning display of Italian engineering and craftsmanship, capturing the essence of the original boat in every detail.

The Ferrari Hydroplane Model is a true masterpiece, measuring an impressive 35 inches in length and handcrafted from the finest materials. The hull is made from high-quality wood, carefully shaped and sanded to create a smooth, streamlined form that accurately reflects the original boat’s design.

The model’s exterior is finished in a lustrous red paint, beautifully contrasting with the wooden deck and chrome fittings. The chrome-plated details, including the propellers and exhaust pipes, add a touch of luxury and sophistication to the design, just like the original boat.

It sits on a wooden base, elegantly displaying the boat in all its glory. A clear acrylic cover protects the replica from dust and damage, ensuring that it remains in pristine condition for years to come.

The Ferrari Hydroplane racing boat was designed and built by Achille Castoldi in the 1950s. Castoldi, a successful powerboat racer, wanted to create a boat that could break the world speed record for an 800-kilogram boat, which was held by the Americans at the time. He turned to Enzo Ferrari, the founder of Ferrari, to provide him with an engine that would help him achieve his goal.

Ferrari provided Castoldi with a 4.5-liter V12 engine that had been used in his Grand Prix cars. Castoldi then designed and built the Ferrari Hydroplane around the engine, using lightweight materials to keep the boat as light as possible. The boat was an instant success, breaking the world speed record in 1953 and setting a new record of 150.49 mph.

The Ferrari Hydroplane went on to break numerous other world speed records over the next few years, cementing its place in history as one of the most successful racing boats of all time. The boat was eventually retired in 1954, but its legacy lives on, inspiring generations of powerboat enthusiasts and designers.

OMH’s Ferrari Hydroplane is a stunning tribute to this iconic racing boat, capturing its beauty and elegance in every detail. It is not just a display piece; it is a piece of history that celebrates the ingenuity, innovation, and passion that drove the Ferrari Hydroplane to achieve greatness. Whether you are a powerboat enthusiast or a Ferrari fan, the Ferrari Hydroplane Model is a must-have addition to your collection.

Our readymade models are built by specialist artisan partners using a combination of traditional woodworking techniques and modern manufacturing methods, including CNC machining, laser cutting, and 3D printing. This blend of craftsmanship and technology allows for high levels of detail and consistency across our range. Every piece is inspected for quality before dispatch.

Our readymade models are constructed from a combination of materials depending on the model and manufacturer. The hull and main structural components are typically built from wood – commonly lime, walnut, or mahogany – while masts, spars, and finer structural elements use a mix of wood and metal. Rigging is made from thread or cord, and smaller fittings such as cannons, anchors, and deck hardware are usually cast in metal or formed from resin. Some components may also incorporate laser-cut or 3D-printed parts where precision detailing is required. Display bases and name plaques are generally finished in wood with brass or metal hardware.
