الوصف

The La Gasp?sienne Painted Model Ship from OMH is a stunning replica of the famous Canadian schooner, La Gasp?sienne, which was built in 1930 by the famed Quebec shipbuilder, Georges Langlois. Measuring 43 x 6 x 31 inches, this non-RC model is handcrafted with incredible attention to detail and features a painted finish that accurately depicts the original vessel’s striking red and white color scheme.

The model ship is constructed using high-quality materials such as solid wood, brass, and metal, ensuring durability and longevity. It features a plank-on-frame construction method that captures the look and feel of the original vessel, complete with intricate rigging, deck fittings, and even miniature lifeboats.

The La Gasp?sienne was a remarkable schooner that played a significant role in the development of Quebec’s fishing industry. Built specifically for the herring fishery, this vessel was used to transport fresh fish to markets in Quebec City, Montreal, and even as far as New York City. With a length of 126 feet and a beam of 26 feet, La Gasp?sienne was a formidable vessel that could hold up to 400 barrels of herring at a time.

Aside from its impressive hauling capacity, La Gasp?sienne was also known for its speed and maneuverability. It was built with a sleek design that allowed it to cut through the waves with ease, and its schooner rigging gave it the ability to sail close to the wind, making it ideal for navigating the choppy waters of the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

The La Gasp?sienne became a legendary vessel in Quebec’s maritime history, and its legacy has been immortalized in literature, art, and now, in this beautifully crafted model from OMH. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or a history enthusiast, the La Gasp?sienne Painted Model is a must-have addition to any nautical collection. Its timeless design and impeccable craftsmanship make it a true work of art that will be admired for generations to come.

Our readymade models are built by specialist artisan partners using a combination of traditional woodworking techniques and modern manufacturing methods, including CNC machining, laser cutting, and 3D printing. This blend of craftsmanship and technology allows for high levels of detail and consistency across our range. Every piece is inspected for quality before dispatch.

Our readymade models are constructed from a combination of materials depending on the model and manufacturer. The hull and main structural components are typically built from wood – commonly lime, walnut, or mahogany – while masts, spars, and finer structural elements use a mix of wood and metal. Rigging is made from thread or cord, and smaller fittings such as cannons, anchors, and deck hardware are usually cast in metal or formed from resin. Some components may also incorporate laser-cut or 3D-printed parts where precision detailing is required. Display bases and name plaques are generally finished in wood with brass or metal hardware.
