Making the Model Boat

Our build process starts with confirming a ship model that needs to be replicated to the perfection. Further, we get the structural details to get the accuracy of the model. For this, we do a holistic research using online as well as offline mediums available to us. We collect data from every possible image of the original ship. We then pass all of this information to our craftsmen to create the model ship with complete conviction.

Our build process involves the following steps:-

  • The Plan Preparation
  • Creating the Structure or Skeleton
  • Planking
  • Fibre Glass
  • Body Filler
  • Assembling the Deck Structure
  • Undercoating
  • Painting
  • Finishing
  • Quality Control
  • Packing

We understand that most of our clients want a unique model that is not easily found in the market. Hence, we fulfill this demand with thorough research to ensure that every bit of the boat is captured with a great accuracy. You can actually expect boutique models made from high-quality materials such as hardwoods, resins, and fibreglass.

We take special care in ensuring that the finishing and colour of the ship model really match with the original boat. Usually, we undercoat paint and finish the model. Each of these processes are executed in sync with the customer?s customisation requirement or matched perfectly with the ship?s original layout. We know that most of the ship models are used for gifting purposes to the people who love to collect exclusive ship models. Hence, we craft each ship model with utmost care and passion so that it can be cherished for a lifetime.

Readymade models are carefully packaged with protective materials to ensure safe transit. Larger or more delicate pieces may require additional packaging – full details on how we pack and deliver our models can be found on our Packing & Delivery page.

Our readymade models are built by specialist artisan partners using a combination of traditional woodworking techniques and modern manufacturing methods, including CNC machining, laser cutting, and 3D printing. This blend of craftsmanship and technology allows for high levels of detail and consistency across our range. Every piece is inspected for quality before dispatch.

Our readymade models are constructed from a combination of materials depending on the model and manufacturer. The hull and main structural components are typically built from wood – commonly lime, walnut, or mahogany – while masts, spars, and finer structural elements use a mix of wood and metal. Rigging is made from thread or cord, and smaller fittings such as cannons, anchors, and deck hardware are usually cast in metal or formed from resin. Some components may also incorporate laser-cut or 3D-printed parts where precision detailing is required. Display bases and name plaques are generally finished in wood with brass or metal hardware.
